Gerard Gamelkoorn, 1951, Oosterbeek, Realist - Portrait-painter
A few quotations from an article by industrious Meus: "After a
considerable period of bustle and stress Gerard Gamelkoorn decided to change the course of his life, in 1995.
He sold his business in visual design and started a period of freewheeling."
'See it as a sort of sabbatical; I needed some time to consider what possibilities were available and essential to me, Gerard says.
Painting was almost a therapy, inspiration automatically welled up,as it were, during my walks in the surroundings. Horses in the fields, flowers, I really painted everything that cropped up. As to that I am a fully self-educated man; I have been able to develop myself through my own creativity and inspiration.
What started as a search for myself hasgrown into a life in art.'
"With his pure, realistic style, wild use of colour, and the sharp contrast between delicate still-lives, striking portraits, imposing pictures of sporting scenes Gerard touches the hearts of art-lovers.
His work is sold at galeries and exhibitions in the surroundings;(portraits are increasingly painted on request) At regular intervals Gerard ex-hibits his collection in his own studio".
'I still consider it a great honour that my work is so highly appreciated; the variety of techniques makes my work exciting', he says. And indeed a striking diversity of techniques is clearly visible.
